SAEDNEWS: Spanish police are treating the disappearance of three-year-old Oliver P — last seen in Marbella on July 4 — as a parental abduction and say they believe the child may have been taken to his mother’s native Russia; the Spanish Interior Ministry has published an appeal with the boy’s description as the investigation continues.
According to Saed News, Spanish authorities have launched an international-scale inquiry after a three-year-old British boy, named in official appeals only as Oliver P, was reported missing from Marbella and is believed by police to have been taken by his Russian mother to her homeland.
Spanish National Police and the Interior Ministry say Oliver was last seen in Marbella on 4 July and that his father reported him missing in early August; investigators are treating the case as a parental abduction and have published the child’s photograph and physical description to assist the search.
Authorities list Oliver’s date of birth as 3 November 2021 and describe him as having grey eyes, blonde hair, standing about 85 centimetres tall and weighing approximately 15 kilos. Police appeals circulated by Spain’s National Missing Persons Centre asked the public for information after the father raised the alarm.
Officials told reporters they believe the child’s mother — a Russian national — may have removed the boy from Spain in breach of a court order that barred her from taking him abroad. Investigators say the mother may have returned to Russia with the child; police are exploring whether an international arrest notice or other cross-border measures are required.
Spanish authorities emphasise that the decision to issue international arrest or extradition requests would rest with a judge. Commentators note the practical difficulty that can arise in child-return or extradition cases where differing legal frameworks and the absence of a bilateral treaty complicate enforcement — particularly if the child is believed to be in Russia.
