SAEDNEWS: The ISIL terrorist group has claimed responsibility for a deadly attack targeting forces affiliated with Abu Mohammad al-Jolani on the outskirts of Idlib, northwestern Syria, according to regional media reports.
A media outlet linked to the ISIL terrorist organization reported that its militants carried out an attack targeting Jolani-affiliated forces along the Maarrat al-Numan road in Syria’s Idlib province.
According to the report, the assault resulted in the deaths of four members of the targeted forces, with another reportedly injured. The attackers claimed they withdrew safely and returned to their positions after the operation.
Earlier on Sunday, Syria’s Interior Ministry confirmed that at least four members of forces aligned with the Jolani regime were killed in an armed attack in Maarrat al-Numan, located in Idlib’s southern countryside.
The ministry added that security forces have launched search and sweep operations in the area to locate and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
The incident highlights ongoing armed clashes and internal tensions in Syria, which have continued since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government, despite repeated security operations across several regions.
