SAEDNEWS: President Masoud Pezeshkian has hailed the great legacy of the influential physician and philosopher Ibn Sina, known in the West as Avicenna.
Today, as the world faces new material and spiritual crises, along with physical and psychological challenges, a new reading of the innovative ideas based on Ibn Sina's legacy has become necessary, Pezeshkian said in a message on Tuesday.
"We need a fresh interpretation of his wisdom, one that understands the demands of the time while remaining faithful to the essence of truth," he added.
As a physician who has also dedicated myself to the health and healing of people, I deeply admire the profound teachings of Ibn Sina and recognize that the "Canon of Medicine" is more than just a medical text; it is a blueprint for preserving human life and dignity.
Pezeshkian also sincerely extended his gratitude to all scholars, physicians, thinkers, students, artists, and organizers of this magnificent event commemorating Ibn Sina.
Ibn Sina was born in Bukhara in August 980 and passed away at the age of 57 in Hamedan on June 22, 1037. He was a Persian polymath who is regarded as one of the most significant physicians, astronomers, philosophers, and writers of the Islamic Golden Age, and the father of early modern medicine.
