SAEDNEWS: Iran's minister of defense says academic centers play a leading role in indigenizing technologies, noting that solving strategic issues of country is impossible without relying on scientific capacity of universities.
On the sidelines of the signing ceremony for a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Defense’s Marine Industries Organization and the University of Tabriz, Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh said that universities and academic institutions are regarded as the country’s main driving force in achieving self-sufficiency, localizing advanced technologies, and reducing dependence on foreign sources.
He emphasized the importance of placing trust in young specialists and academic elites, noting that past successes in Iran’s defense industry demonstrate that significant progress has been made whenever responsibility has been given to capable and talented youth.
Nasirzadeh also underlined that making use of the high potential of knowledge-based companies and the private sector can create suitable conditions for the realization of a knowledge-based economy within the defense sector.
The memorandum of understanding was signed between the Marine Industries Organization of the Ministry of Defense and the University of Tabriz in the presence of the Minister of Defense and the Governor of East Azerbaijan Province. The agreement aims to promote development, achieve self-sufficiency, and support the localization of maritime engine technologies.
