Iranian security forces have successfully seized over 1,000 military-grade weapons in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan, thwarting a major terrorist plot aimed at destabilizing the region.

The latest security operations in August 2025 led to the discovery of over 210 firearms in three separate missions.

These seizures bring the total number of confiscated weapons since March to over 1,000.

The seized weaponry includes combat and semi-heavy weapons, capable of being used in urban warfare and sabotage operations.

Investigations revealed that a portion of the arms had been manufactured in the United States and smuggled into Iran with the intent to supply terrorist groups operating in the east of the country.

Iranian officials emphasized that the swift action of intelligence units prevented these weapons from reaching their intended recipients.

Authorities continue to monitor border regions and conduct counter-terrorism operations to prevent further infiltration and arms trafficking.
