SAEDNEWS: Mazandaran Governor: Fire in Elit Forest Largely Contained Through 400-Strong Effort and Public Cooperation
According to Saed News’ Social Affairs service, quoting Haft-e-Sobh, Mahdi Younesi, Governor of Mazandaran, stated that the wildfire in the Hyrcanian Elit forests began on the evening of November 15 and, unfortunately, continues to burn. He explained that management, operational, and rescue teams immediately entered the area to contain the fire, and through their efforts, they were able to control it and prevent its spread.
Younesi added that the fire expanded most severely at night due to strong winds. Today, the Aerospace Organization of the IRGC and the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran deployed two rescue planes from friendly Turkey to the Elit region, paving the way for aerial operations.
He noted that aerial rescue operations are set to begin shortly and that around 400 personnel from other provinces have joined the efforts to assist and contain the fire.
The Mazandaran governor also praised local and community forces, emphasizing, “I thank the efforts of local and community forces. In this field, I saw nothing but unity, empathy, and altruism as they arrived on time.”
Currently, the fire exists in scattered patches, and rescue and operational teams have been able to partially control it and prevent further spread. Younesi reported that approximately 7 to 8 hectares of the Hyrcanian Elit forests have so far been affected by the wildfire.
