In a stark statement released by Gaza's Government Media Office, officials have accused Israel and the United States of employing starvation as a political weapon against the Palestinian people. This strategy has been condemned as both “a war crime and a crime against humanity,” highlighting the grave humanitarian crisis unfolding in the region.

On Tuesday, the Government Media Office denounced the Israeli use of starvation as a means to apply political pressure on civilians in the Gaza Strip. They criticized the US administration for what they termed “declared approval” of these tactics. The statement specifically addressed recent comments from U.S. President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken, categorically rejecting any linkage between humanitarian aid and a ceasefire agreement between the Israeli regime and Palestinian resistance factions.

"Linking the two issues to each other is a clear crime that requires a condemnation from the international community, the international and UN organizations, and all the countries of the free world,” the statement asserted.

It also highlighted the impact of the closure of the Rafah border crossing between Palestine and Egypt, which has been shut for over 105 days. This closure is viewed as part of a broader strategy that constitutes “the crime of genocide committed by the two sides against civilians in the Gaza Strip.” The Government Media Office emphasized that such actions violate international law and have significantly worsened the humanitarian disaster in Gaza.

“The crime of blocking the entry of all kinds of aid, medical supplies, medical delegations and medications [into Gaza] seriously contributes to worsening the health and humanitarian situation,” they noted, attributing the catastrophic repercussions to the actions of both Israel and the U.S.

In light of the escalating conflict, the United Nations has reported a record high in fatalities among aid workers in the region, urging the international community to apply pressure on both Israel and the U.S. to cease their military actions and lift restrictions at the Rafah crossing.

The current Israeli offensive against Gaza, launched on October 7, was initiated following a surprise attack by the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas. This violent response was rooted in the long-standing grievances regarding the continued oppression of Palestinians. As the conflict escalates, reports have indicated that more than 40,000 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, have lost their lives, with tens of thousands more injured and countless others missing in the aftermath of the bombings.

The human toll of this ongoing war is staggering, and calls for immediate action from the global community are more urgent than ever.
