Today’s shopping centres are more than places to buy things — they are destinations for strolling, socialising and meetings. With restaurants, cafés, theatres and cinemas, people visit malls to spend time, meet friends or hold business gatherings as much as to shop. This article looks at Tehran’s shopping centres that offer the ultimate in quality and luxury — places suited to high-end purchases where restaurants and cafés are designed to impress visitors in business or social appointments.
Sam Center is a nine-storey luxury mall in north Tehran that brings together many of the city’s top and priciest foreign and domestic brands. The first Montblanc store — the maker of sunglasses, pens, jewellery, leather goods and fragrances — opened here. Alongside Montblanc you’ll find other well-known brands such as Cerruti, Chopard, and Bvlgari. Most stores are on the first and second floors; the third through seventh floors are used for parking. The ninth floor houses upscale restaurants that are good for enjoying Iranian and international dishes or holding business meetings.
After shopping, head to the second floor and enjoy a coffee at Sam Café.

Boutique Mall Mall-ol-Mellal sits on Fereshteh Street — one of Tehran’s most luxurious avenues. It is even more elegant and refined than other malls in the area. With modern architecture and a striking facade, Boutique Mall is best visited for one of two reasons: either you plan to make expensive purchases or you simply want to enjoy the sparkle of its shop windows and displays.

If you’re looking for expensive local and international brands and authentic goods, Zafaraniyeh Plaza is an ideal option — although you may leave without purchases if you’re on a tight budget. This three-storey complex has 40 commercial units and a parking facility with room for 210 cars, so finding a space is rarely a problem. The mall offers everything from clothing, bags and shoes to home and kitchenware, sporting goods, watches and jewellery. There’s also a café, a patisserie and a restaurant where you can treat yourself to a meal.

Palladium, on Zafaraniyeh Street, is a popular shopping and leisure destination with distinctive architecture. The complex hosts about 150 retail units and brings many reputable brands together. Swarovski, Geox, Mango and Skechers are among the brands present. Palladium also features a sports hall and a swimming pool. The food court on the top floor includes 25 restaurants and cafés — a good place to relax and eat.

Modern Elahieh is an eleven-storey building at the end of Africa Boulevard (Jordan), near Modares Highway. Only two floors of the eleven are dedicated to retail, mostly clothing shops; other stores sell perfume, watches, cosmetics, sports goods, handmade chocolates and similar items. Brands such as Stefano Ricci, Lambrodo Depark (Lambrudo Depark), Monte Carlo, Red Valentino, Promod and others have outlets here.
The complex’s “Royal” level on the fifth floor recently opened and includes boutiques, jewellery shops, a café and a luxury restaurant in an attractive setting.
Visitors can rest and dine at the mall’s cafés and restaurants. The parking area with 175 spaces eases parking concerns in the Jordan area.

Rosha Department Store is Iran’s first “borderless” department store — meaning there are no walls separating stores and stalls, unlike traditional mall layouts. Many international brands are gathered under one roof, letting shoppers pick from a wide selection.
Rosha sits in a 17-storey building; four floors are retail and ten floors provide parking, solving visitors’ parking concerns. The retail floors are organised as follows: the GF floor for perfumes and cosmetics; the G floor for women’s clothing, bags and shoes; the first floor for men’s, children’s clothing and footwear; and the second floor onward for sportswear and accessories.
Like other luxury shopping centres, Rosha includes several restaurants and cafés that offer quiet spaces for dining and meetings.

Almas Iran, a large shopping centre in the northeast of Tehran, is another luxury mall. If price isn’t a concern and you want high-quality goods, Almas can be a good choice; it hosts many brand stores such as Adidas, Bershka, Montblanc, Benetton, Gap, Sisley, Mango and luxury watch boutiques.
A ring of restaurants and cafés surrounds the outdoor area. The mall also contains a Cityland supermarket and a spacious parking facility.

To reach SkyCenter you need to travel a little beyond central Tehran. This newly built luxury mall in Lavasan has its own clientele — Tehran’s highland residents. With classical and very opulent architecture, SkyCenter hosts premium brand stores and, thanks to its location, offers an outstanding view of Latian Dam and the surrounding nature. As with other malls, SkyCenter includes restaurants and cafés and has ample parking.

Tandis is one of Tehran’s well-known malls, in Tajrish, where a wide variety of Iranian and foreign clothing brands are on display. This four-storey complex sits at the start of Darband Street and features the famous “Blue Duck” (Ordak Abi) restaurant. If you’re looking for distinctive accessories, bags or shoes, visit Tandis. Like most Tehran malls, Tandis provides parking.

Near Tajrish Square you can also count on Arg Center for shopping. ArgCenter is five storeys high and contains small and large shops and brand outlets for clothing, bags, shoes, cosmetics, jewellery and watches. Bamland’s attractive views and pleasant atmosphere make it hard to match elsewhere. Located close to the Persian Gulf Lake (Chitgar/Lake), Bamland gathers reputable domestic and international brands. Beyond Iranian cuisine, the food court and restaurants serve international dishes as well. Recreational options such as fishing, skating, a gym and a kids’ garden add fun to the shopping experience.

MegaMall is one of west Tehran’s best and largest shopping centres. Kourosh is more than a mall — as its name “Cultural and Commercial Complex Kourosh” suggests, it’s a major leisure destination. It is one of Tehran’s largest centres with many clothing and footwear brands and several jewellery galleries. After watching a film at its cinema, visitors can explore the mall’s multiple floors and enjoy the food court’s quality restaurants. Kourosh’s indoor amusement park is an excellent option for families with children.

If you’re looking for a strong shopping option in west Tehran, remember Milad Noor. Its glass facade has stood for nearly 20 years, and the mall hosts 357 stores across eight floors, representing popular brands in clothing, bags, shoes and homeware — from Versace and Diesel to Tommy, Nike and Adidas. The sixth floor has a food court and cafés where you can relax after shopping.

Tirajeh is a three-floor mall on Ashrafi Esfahani Highway and is a good shopping choice for west Tehran residents. It includes three retail floors, one indoor amusement floor and three floors of parking. Highland is a two-storey shopping centre near Argentina Square. If you’re after cosmetics and branded perfumes, Highland is a must-visit. The ground floor also sells branded chocolates and biscuits. Note that Highland does not have parking and is widely known among Tehranis as a cosmetics and perfume destination.
