SAEDNEWS: Washington is in touch with Kyiv about Ukraine’s ongoing incursion into Russia’s Kursk Region, which is creating a problem for Moscow, US President Joe Biden has said.

Biden Admits Direct Contact With Ukraine Over Kursk Assault

According to SAEDNEWS, In a significant escalation of tensions, Ukraine has reportedly dispatched several thousand troops across the Russian border, targeting a dozen villages and, according to Moscow, indiscriminately attacking civilians. This bold move is part of what is being referred to as the "Kursk offensive."

President Biden addressed the situation during a recent press conference, noting the ongoing challenges it presents for Russian President Vladimir Putin. “I have been in regular contact with my team, discussing the situation every four to five hours over the past week. This is creating a real dilemma for Putin,” Biden stated, highlighting the gravity of the developments.

The U.S. has been maintaining continuous communication with Ukrainian officials, reflecting a steadfast commitment to supporting Ukraine. “That’s all I’m going to say about it while it’s active,” Biden added, while speaking to reporters just outside Air Force One in New Orleans.

Echoing this sentiment, EU foreign policy commissioner Josep Borrell reiterated that Ukraine has the “full support” of the European Union as it advances with the offensive in Kursk.

Despite the gravity of the situation, past responses from both Washington and Brussels have typically been framed in broad terms of support for Ukraine and consistent policy stances. National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby commented, “We’re in touch with our Ukrainian counterparts and working to better understand their objectives and strategy. I'll leave it at that to allow for further discussion before characterizing what's happening.”

In a show of solidarity, the U.S. recently announced an additional $125 million in military aid to Ukraine. This support comes amidst increasing recognition of Ukraine’s efforts, with Senator Lindsey Graham from South Carolina openly praising the Kursk incursion as “bold” and “beautiful” during a visit to Kyiv. He even encouraged retired Western pilots to join the Ukrainian Air Force and operate NATO-supplied F-16 fighters against Russia.

As the situation evolves, it’s clear that both Washington and European allies remain committed to supporting Ukraine in its ongoing struggle. The coming days will be critical as the international community watches how the Kursk offensive unfolds.
