SAEDNEWS: To learn about the foods you should never put in your blender and the reasons behind it, continue reading this article.
According to SAEDNEWS, A blender is one of the most versatile tools in the kitchen, capable of performing many tasks, from chopping various fruits and vegetables and making sauces to preparing different beverages and smoothies. This kitchen assistant can complete your tasks in the shortest time possible; however, it’s interesting to know that despite all its uses, there are several foods that should never be put in the blender.
Avoid pouring hot liquids, such as soup, into the blender and wait for them to cool down. Pouring hot liquids into the blender can release steam and create excessive pressure, which may cause the lid to pop off, leading to spillage at best or damaging the device at worst. Always hold the blender lid firmly with one hand while operating.
Instead of using a blender, use a grater or an electric potato masher to mash potatoes. This is because potatoes contain a lot of starch, and when blended, it results in mashed potatoes that are sticky and gooey rather than light and fluffy.
Never use a blender to knead bread dough. The blender cannot perform the kneading function effectively, and the dough will not be properly kneaded. As the blender works, the gluten in the flour will be released, resulting in a tough and dense product.
Raw fibrous vegetables such as kale, celery, and broccoli should not be placed in the blender because the molecular structure of these vegetables does not break down properly. Their fibers remain on the blades, which can cause problems for the motor and damage the device. It also makes cleaning the blender difficult. However, if these vegetables are cooked, they do not cause such issues. To puree these raw vegetables, it is recommended to use a juicer.
Some blenders do not have powerful motors capable of crushing ice, and adding ice can wear out and damage the motor. However, this topic is somewhat debatable, as many people use blenders to make smoothies and cold drinks that require ice in the recipe. Be sure to check the specifications of the blender before purchasing, and if it has the capability to crush ice, then you can buy it.
If your blender's motor is not powerful enough, frozen fruits, like ice, can damage the blender. If you want to make a smoothie with frozen fruits, it's better to wait a bit after removing the fruits from the freezer so they soften slightly, then place them in the blender.
Putting a small amount of coffee beans in the blender usually won't cause an issue at first. However, over time, this can lead to dulling the blender blades. Coffee beans are extremely hard, and it takes a lot of force to break them. If you use a standard blender, the blades will likely be damaged by grinding the coffee beans, and the blender will gradually struggle to mix softer foods as well.
A blender is not suitable for grinding meat. Do not use a blender to chop or grind meat, as it produces a soft and slippery mixture that disrupts the texture of burgers or kebabs.
