In recent years, five cities perched on the edge of cliffs have consistently attracted tourists.
Over the past few decades, with the remarkable growth of the tourism industry, destinations with unique geographical features have become increasingly popular among travelers.
Among them are five cities built on coastal cliffs and steep precipices. These destinations are considered among the leading tourist attractions in their respective countries.
The coastal city of Acapulco, known for having one of the best beaches along the Pacific Ocean, welcomes tens of thousands of tourists every year. Built on coastal cliffs, the beautiful city attracts visitors who come specifically to dive from towering rocks into the shallow waters below. Acapulco is considered Mexico’s leading tourist destination.
Acapulco lies in front of a deep bay shaped like a crescent moon. Since the early days of Spanish colonial rule, it has been one of Mexico’s most important ports. Tourism is one of the main pillars of the economy of this historic city, which during the 1950s was a peaceful holiday retreat for Hollywood stars and millionaires.

Rocamadour is a small village perched above the Alzou River valley in southwestern France. Most of its buildings were designed and constructed in the 12th century, following the steep contours of the rocky cliff.

The village’s houses are located at the foot of the cliff, while its famous church, known as Saint-Amadour, stands higher up on the rock. The church attracts tourists and pilgrims throughout the year.
In previous years, the historic village was deserted for various reasons, including the French Revolution and the Second World War. However, it has since regained its vitality and now welcomes thousands of tourists annually.

The village of Castellfollit de la Roca, located in Spain’s Catalonia region, is built on basalt cliffs between two rivers. It is considered one of the most beautiful yet dangerous villages in Spain and Europe.
Most of the houses in this village, which covers an area of less than three square kilometers, were built along the edge of the cliff during the Middle Ages. Viewed from a distance, the houses appear as though they could plunge into the valley at any moment.

The village of Castellfollit de la Roca has preserved its medieval identity and has become one of Spain’s popular tourist destinations in recent years.

The small town of Bonifacio lies at the southernmost tip of the island of Corsica, in southern France. Its fortifications extend to the tip of a rocky cliff that overlooks the sea and rises approximately 70 meters above sea level.

The town was developed during several historical periods. Because the lower sections of the cliff on which it stands have been eroded, the town faces potentially dangerous conditions, with a significant risk of rock collapse.
Nevertheless, these dramatic and intimidating surroundings have created a spectacular landscape that is one of the main reasons tourists are drawn to Bonifacio.

This small village, situated along a rocky stretch of coastline in northern Italy, is considered a jewel of the beautiful and historic Cinque Terre region. It is a popular destination for many tourists visiting the area.

The village of Manarola developed over several historical periods. Among its notable historical landmarks are its stone churches. The Church of San Lorenzo, in particular, is one of the village’s major tourist attractions and continues to draw visitors throughout the year.
