SAEDNEWS: Siahkal county in east of Gilan province is considered one of top tourism destinations of north of Iran due to its pristine nature, valuable historical monuments, and numerous religious sites.
According to Tourism desk of Saednews, Siahkal, a combination of natural beauties, cultural and spiritual heritages, draws thousands of tourists annually, IRNA wrote.
The county is restricted to the cities of Lahijan and Astaneh in north, Roudsar, Langeroud, and Amlash in east, Roudbar and Alamut in south, and Rasht in west.
Siahkal is located 45 kilometers off Caspian Sea. It is home to several holy shrines as well.
Siahkal-Deylaman road is one of the most dream-like forest roads of the country in east of Gilan. This route with green sceneries, abundant rivers, and diverse vegetation, draws many tourists annually. It starts with Shalizars (paddy fields) and tea gardens, cross the forests and waterfalls, and then reaches Deylaman countryside.
There is a beautiful waterfall in the heart of forests and Alborz mountains which draws many visitors annually. It is located 25 kilometers off Siahkal. Due to easy access to the road, this waterfall is one of the major stops of tourists.
Larikhani forest is located eight kilometers off Siahkal-Deylaman road. Larikhani mineral water spring is located at the end of this forest. This spring has a fresh and drinkable water. Dorfak summit is located at height of 2,733 meters of western Alborz in Gilan mountains.
Titi Caravanserai is one of the oldest historical inns in northern Iran. The caravanserai, located in Siahkal region of Gilan province, is part of the ‘The Persian Caravanserai’ collection, which was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2023.
The Titi Caravanserai, dating back to the Safavid era, was once a vital resting place for travelers moving between Siahkal, Deylaman, and Taleqan. Named after Titi Khanum, a Safavid noblewoman who commissioned its construction, the name ‘Titi’ means ‘blossom’ in the local Gilaki language, reflecting the region’s cultural heritage. The caravanserai, which is characterized by its two-iwan design, central courtyard, and vaulted ceilings, was constructed using a combination of stone, brick, and traditional mortar.
The monument is one of the 999 caravanserais constructed across the country upon the order of Shah Abbas the Great, the 5th Safavid king of Iran.
Deylaman ancient bathhouse is one of the valuable monuments of traditional architecture in mountainous region of Deylaman. It is located in ancient texture of Deylaman city. It indicates the importance of urban civilization and social life of local people in the past. It dates back to the Safavid era. Deylaman bath, which has been registered on National Heritage List, has been renovated.
The spiritual dimension of Siahkal is in its mausoleums and shrines. Imamzadeh Mostafa, Imamzadeh Saleh and Imamzadeh Hussein attract many pilgrims to Siahkal annually.
Siahkal, as a four-season destination with its diverse attractions, can play a great role in promoting tourism industry of Gilan province.
