SAEDNEWS: It can be asked why mothers tend to show more love toward their children than fathers, and scientists have succeeded in discovering the reason behind this.
According to SAEDNEWS, Love and affection toward one’s own species or even other species exist among all living beings on Earth in varying degrees, and they may represent one of the most important and fundamental reasons for life. However, some people believe that there is no form of love or affection among animals and that they are only capable of causing irreparable harm and sadness.
But a recent study conducted by researchers at “Louisiana State University” revealed a surprising and fascinating finding. This study identified a group of brain cells in female mice that become active when the “love hormone” is released in their brains, and at the same time, cells associated with a hormone called “oxytocin” are also activated.
These cells were discovered precisely in the part of the brain responsible for processing maternal behavior. “Oxytocin” is released during childbirth and breastfeeding and plays a crucial role in forming emotional bonds between a mother and her infant. These mechanisms exist in all mothers, both in humans and animals, highlighting a shared biological foundation for maternal affection across species.
This study shows that these cells exist in all women and play an important role in the mother–infant bond. With this discovery, it may become possible to prevent postpartum depression in women, which could represent a major advancement in this field. Meanwhile, in past years, oxytocin has also been used as an effective treatment for mood disorders and autism.
