SAEDNEWS: Chinese Woman Joins Beijing Funeral Home as a Cosmetic Doctor for the Deceased

Cosmetic Doctor for the Dead: Recognized as the World’s Strangest Profession

According to SaedNews, quoting Hamshahri Online, “Dang Chu,” born in 1997, is now a graduate in the field of modern funeral management arts from Beijing Social Management University. Since 2018, she has joined one of Beijing’s funeral homes to work as a postmortem cosmetic specialist.

Every day, she and her colleagues clean and apply makeup to the deceased, and if necessary, use 3D technology to restore the deceased’s facial appearance as much as possible.

Dang Chu’s profession is different from most beauty specialists, and many people are unable to understand it.

She says: “I have a relatively independent personality and I do not regret choosing this profession. We serve not only the deceased but also their families, and the satisfaction of the deceased’s family with the appearance of their loved one is the best motivation for us to continue our work.”
