This Delicious Dessert Is Perfect After a Meal

According to SAEDNEWS, desserts are among the most popular and diverse foods around the world. Fruit-based desserts, in particular, are loved for their delightful aroma and flavor. Desserts are usually served after meals because their sweetness is believed to aid digestion. Panna cotta is a famous traditional Italian dessert that means “cooked cream” and is made from a combination of cream, milk, and gelatin.

This delicious dessert is commonly prepared in vanilla, chocolate, coffee, or fruit-flavored varieties. Strawberry panna cotta is one of the most popular fruit versions thanks to its attractive aroma and taste. If you would like to make this special dessert at home, follow the recipe below.

Ingredients

  • 55 grams sugar

  • 150 grams whole milk

  • 150 grams breakfast cream (heavy cream)

  • 1 tablespoon gelatin powder

  • 3 tablespoons cold water

  • 100 grams chopped strawberries

  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest

Method

Step 1:
Place 300 grams of strawberries in a food processor and blend until completely smooth. Mix the strawberry puree with the sugar and place it over heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Reduce the heat and allow the mixture to start boiling, then turn off the heat.

Step 2:
Mix the gelatin powder with the cold water and place it over steam (double boiler method) until it becomes clear and fully dissolved.

Step 3:
Combine the milk and cream at room temperature, then gradually add them to the warm strawberry puree while stirring. Add the dissolved gelatin, then stir in the lemon zest and chopped strawberries. Pour the mixture into a mold and refrigerate for 5–6 hours until set.

Step 4:
To remove the dessert from the mold, take it out of the refrigerator and let it sit for 5 minutes. Run a thin, sharp knife around the edges of the mold to loosen the dessert.

If you are using a silicone mold, the panna cotta should release easily without hot water. For other molds, place the mold in a bowl of hot water for about one minute. Metal molds release the dessert faster than plastic or cast-iron molds.

Do not leave the mold in hot water for too long, as the dessert may release excess liquid and lose its appearance. As soon as you feel it has loosened, invert it onto a serving plate and decorate as desired.

Enjoy!

Important Notes

About Strawberries

Strawberries are delicious and nutritious fruits, with more than 6,000 varieties in red, white, and yellow colors. They are rich in vitamin C and antioxidants and may help support heart health, reduce blood pressure, strengthen bones, promote weight management, aid wound healing, and relieve constipation. Strawberries are also beneficial for skin health and appearance.

In Iran, strawberries are produced both in greenhouses and open fields. Greenhouse strawberries are usually larger, while smaller field-grown strawberries often have a more natural flavor. When buying strawberries, choose firm, glossy, dark-red fruits with fresh green caps attached.

For proper cleaning, place strawberries in a bowl of cold water for three minutes, then drain. Repeat this process at least twice to remove dirt and grit.

About Lemon Zest

Zest refers to the grated outer colored peel of lemons or oranges, which adds wonderful aroma to desserts. When grating, use only the colored outer layer and avoid the white pith underneath, as it is bitter. Zest should always be used fresh.

About Gelatin

Gelatin is a colorless and flavorless substance derived from collagen found in animal tissues. Gelatin powder should always be dissolved using the double-boiler method. Excessive heat can produce an unpleasant odor.

One tablespoon of gelatin powder is equivalent to four sheets of gelatin. Store gelatin powder in a sealed container in a cool, dry place. Once opened, it is best used within six months, after which it may lose its effectiveness.
