SAEDNEWS: Iran plans to launch three satellites from the Shahid Soleimani satellite constellation into orbit simultaneously by the end of the current Iranian year, March 21, 2027.
According to Saednews, Iranian Communications and Information Technology Minister Sattar Hashemi said Wednesday that developing the country’s space industry remains one of the government’s key priorities, pointing to the simultaneous launch of three Iranian satellites in cooperation with Russia as a major achievement.
Hashemi said the three satellites—Paya, Zafar and Kowsar—were developed through cooperation among various sectors, including the government, universities and private companies.
He added that Iran is advancing several projects to expand its launch infrastructure, although some facilities were damaged during the recent war.
According to Hashemi, the first phase of the Chabahar Space Center is now 98% complete, compared with around 40% previously. He said the facility would offer a strategic location for placing communications and remote-sensing satellites into orbit.
The minister also announced plans to launch the Nahid-2 satellite. He said it was developed for the first time in the Ku band, with a woman executive playing a leading role in its development, and that the satellite would be used for telecommunications.
Hashemi said the Shahid Soleimani constellation comprises 24 satellites, including 18 primary satellites and six reserve units. Iran plans to launch three of the satellites simultaneously this year, while the remaining satellites are scheduled for launch in subsequent years.
