Saed News: The journey to Mars, which is expected to take up to two years, will be a far greater challenge for this billionaire’s mind and body, although Wang appears highly enthusiastic about it.

Selection of the Commander for the First Human Mission to Mars

According to SAEDNEWS, SpaceX has announced plans to send a cryptocurrency billionaire to Mars. Chun Wang, a crypto entrepreneur, has been selected to command the first human interplanetary flight.

According to Futurism, at first glance Wang may seem an unlikely choice for such a mission. He is a software developer who dropped out of university and built his wealth by developing one of the earliest and most successful Bitcoin mining pools in China, just before the Chinese government banned all cryptocurrency-related activities in 2021.

However, his resume also includes another spaceflight experience. SpaceX’s Fram2 mission in April 2025 was a journey he personally funded and led.

The Mars mission, expected to last up to two years, will pose a far greater physical and mental challenge, although Wang appears eager for it.

It is still unclear who else will accompany Wang on the mission and whether he will also fund the other participant. In any case, the possibility of a cryptocurrency billionaire deliberately launching himself to a distance of about 220 million kilometers from Earth has sparked criticism on social media.

Journalist David Perry wrote on Bluesky: “This is the first time I 100% support SpaceX’s decision. I hope they launch soon.” Writer Dara Moskovitz Grumdahl joked that it is a “great start,” adding: “But I think all crypto billionaires should be launched into space!”
