According to Saednews, Kazem Jalali said preparations were underway to finalize arrangements for the president’s visit.

“The Iranian president will travel to Moscow to attend the summit of heads of state of gas-exporting countries, scheduled to take place on Tuesday, October 27,” the ambassador said.

The 8th Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) summit is expected to bring together leaders of member states in the Russian capital to discuss developments in global gas markets, prospects for cooperation among gas-exporting nations, and ways to enhance the role of natural gas in the global economy.

Russia has stressed the importance of coordination among gas-exporting countries to protect their interests in international energy markets, counter unilateral economic restrictions, and strengthen the position of natural gas as an accessible, reliable and versatile energy source.

The summit is also expected to provide an opportunity for participants to exchange experiences, expand technological cooperation and develop joint initiatives aimed at supporting global energy security amid changing energy market conditions.

The GECF is an intergovernmental organization whose full members include Iran, Russia, Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Trinidad and Tobago, the United Arab Emirates and Venezuela. Its founding agreement entered into force on September 30, 2009, and summits of leaders from member states have been held every two years since 2011.
