Kenya Reports Second Ebola-Related Death

According to Saednews, Kenya’s third confirmed case of Ebola Bundibugyo virus disease has died while receiving treatment at an infectious disease unit, according to the Ministry of Health, Xinhua reported.

The deceased was a close family member and direct contact of Kenya’s first Ebola-related fatality in the current outbreak, said Patrick Amoth, the ministry’s director general for health.

“Her passing is a painful reminder that Ebola is a serious disease that can be fatal, and patients’ conditions can deteriorate suddenly without warning,” Amoth said.

Trained teams will carry out the burial in accordance with the family’s wishes and beliefs while taking all necessary precautions to protect relatives and the wider community from potential infection, he added.

The latest death brings the total number of fatalities to two among nine confirmed cases in Kenya. The other seven patients remain under treatment at two isolation facilities, Amoth said.

He noted that all confirmed cases remain linked to a single cluster of known contacts, with no evidence of community transmission.
