SAEDNEWS: IRGC spokesperson Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi has ridiculed Washington’s efforts to present the alleged rescue of an American pilot in Iran as a success, stating that the story recently reported by US media about the incident is “entirely fictional.”
According to Saednews, Iranian General Mohebbi has dismissed a report by American media about the rescue of a US pilot during the joint US-Israeli military action against Iran in April, describing the account as fictional and implausible.
Speaking to IRNA, Mohebbi said the narrative presented by American media could not be accepted as credible. He was referring to a report broadcast earlier this week by CBS News’ 60 Minutes, which featured an account of an American pilot who was allegedly rescued from mountainous terrain in central Iran.
The Iranian general compared the report to the scripts of Hollywood films and said it represented an attempt to portray an achievement from what he described as a failed military operation against Iran.
“No sound mind would accept their narrative because it is fictional and unacceptable,” Mohebbi said.
According to the Iranian official, the American pilot gave CBS News an account of his survival that he described as highly implausible. The pilot reportedly said he survived after his F-15 fighter jet was shot down by Iranian military forces and that he landed in rugged mountainous terrain.
“The American pilot claimed that he fell at a speed of 160 kilometers per hour and survived, while his parachute did not even open and he crashed into the heart of a mountain,” Mohebbi said.
He further argued that the United States has previously been accused of presenting highly dramatized accounts of military operations and achievements in foreign conflicts.
Mohebbi said Washington was attempting to highlight successes from the military operation against Iran amid pressure from both its allies and domestic political opponents over the results and costs of the campaign.
“The US is embarrassing itself with these actions. These films [the pilot interview] will definitely not only fail to bring any achievement, but will also become a source of ridicule,” the IRGC spokesperson said.
