SAEDNEWS: Bahrain Parliament Revokes Membership of Three MPs Over Support for Iranian Operations Against Hostile Parties

Bahrain’s King Reportedly Furious with Citizens, Calls for Punishment of Iran Supporters

According to reports by the political service of Saed News, Bahraini newspapers Al-Ayam and Al-Bilad wrote that one week after criticism by Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of MPs who, according to him, supported Iran’s “decisive operation” against the United States and the Israeli regime—whom he accused of siding with “traitors”—the Bahraini parliament has today revoked the membership of three of its members for allegedly supporting Iran.

On April 30, the King had ordered that Bahraini citizenship be revoked from individuals who supported Iran’s operation. He also threatened to dismiss MPs who opposed the revocation unless they issued an apology.

According to Al-Ayam, during today’s parliamentary session, the parliament approved a request to revoke the membership of Abdulnabi Salman, Mahdi Al-Shuwaiakh, and Mamdouh Al-Saleh—three MPs—due to their criticism of state actions taken against individuals accused of supporting Iran.

The Al Khalifa authorities had earlier announced on April 27 the revocation of citizenship of 69 individuals, including several families, for expressing solidarity with Iran and praising its operations against what it described as hostile American and Israeli interests in the region.

Iranian armed forces, in response to what was described as American-Israeli aggression that began on February 28, targeted bases and interests belonging to the United States and the Israeli regime in the region.
