SAEDNEWS: Israel Requests Clarification from U.S. Over Donald Trump Remarks on Lebanon Attack

Israel Grabs Trump by the Collar: Why Agree to a Ceasefire?

According to the political desk of Saed News, Axios has reported a message from Donald Trump, the U.S. president, stating that Israel must stop its airstrikes in Lebanon, shocked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Following the message, Israel requested clarification from the White House. Netanyahu and his advisers were reportedly stunned, as the statement directly contradicted a ten-day ceasefire agreement that had been released by the U.S. State Department just one day earlier.

On Friday, Trump wrote on his social media platform: “Israel will not bomb Lebanon anymore. The United States has stopped them. Enough is enough!!!”

In an interview with Axios, he reinforced his stance, saying: “Israel must stop. It cannot continue destroying buildings. I will not allow it.”

Behind the scenes, Netanyahu and his team learned about Trump’s remarks through the media and were caught off guard. They communicated with the White House, emphasizing that the statements did not align with the ceasefire agreement.

After Axios requested clarification, a U.S. official stated that the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel clearly stipulates that Israel will not carry out offensive military operations against Lebanese targets, while still retaining the right to defend itself against imminent threats.

Notably, on Friday evening—shortly before Trump’s interview—an Israeli drone reportedly struck southern Lebanon.

An Israeli source later claimed that Hezbollah had violated the ceasefire by attacking Israeli forces, and that Israeli troops responded in self-defense to neutralize the threat.
