In a post on his X account, Araqchi denounced the attack on civilian infrastructure and warned that targeting vital facilities such as water supply systems constitutes a dangerous escalation in the ongoing war of aggression imposed by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran.

“The US committed a blatant and desperate crime by attacking a freshwater desalination plant on Qeshm Island. Water supply in 30 villages has been impacted,” he said.

“Attacking Iran's infrastructure is a dangerous move with grave consequences. The US set this precedent, not Iran,” Araqchi warned.

The US and Israel have launched a deadly military campaign against Iran following the assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei as well as senior military commanders and civilians on February 28.

The campaign has involved extensive strikes that have targeted military and civilian areas, resulting in significant casualties and damage.

The Iranian Armed Forces have carried out harsh retaliatory strikes, hitting the US and Israeli targets in the occupied territories and the regional countries with a barrage of missiles and drones.
