Pezeshkian: Relations with Neighbors Do Not Negate Iran’s Right to Self-Defense

According to the political news service of SaedNews, Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized in a social media post that friendly relations with regional governments do not contradict Iran’s inherent right to defend itself against military aggression.

The message from the President reads:

The Islamic Republic of Iran has always emphasized maintaining and continuing friendly relations with regional governments based on good neighborliness and mutual respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity. This does not negate Iran’s inherent right to defend itself against military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime.

We stand and resist to the last breath in defense of our country. Iran’s defensive operations are solely directed against targets and facilities that serve as the origin and base of aggressive actions against the Iranian people, which we consider legitimate targets.

We have not attacked friendly or neighboring countries; rather, we have targeted U.S. military bases, facilities, and installations in the region.
