A New Red Line in Universities; The Ministry of Science’s Strong Reaction to the Controversies at “Sharif”

According to the political desk of Saed News Agency, following the controversies surrounding the memorial ceremony marking the fortieth day of the victims of the Dey incidents at Sharif University of Technology — which resulted in physical clashes, stone-throwing, and injuries to several students — the Ministry of Science issued a firm statement declaring that, in cooperation with students and stakeholders, it will not allow the academic environment to become unsafe.

Mohammad Ali Dadgostarnia, the Minister’s media advisor, emphasized that universities are alive through the presence of students and warned that some groups are seeking to shut down universities and shift education entirely to virtual platforms. While recognizing the right of all student groups to hold mourning ceremonies, he stressed the importance of rationality, tolerance, and adherence to university regulations. He underscored that universities must remain spaces for pluralism and peaceful dialogue to prevent violence and the violation of others’ rights.
