SAEDNEWS: The U.S. Army is readying for a potential multi-week operation against Iran in the event that Donald Trump issues an attack order.
According to Saed News political service, citing Reuters, U.S. officials say that if President Donald Trump orders an attack on Iran, the United States fully expects Tehran to retaliate, which could lead to prolonged back-and-forth strikes over time.
Two American officials told Reuters that the U.S. military is preparing for the possibility of sustained, multi-week operations against Iran if Trump issues an attack order. Such operations could escalate into far more serious conflict than previously seen between the two countries.
The disclosure by these officials, who requested anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the planning, increases the risks facing ongoing diplomacy between the United States and Iran.
The New York Times also reported that U.S. long-range bombers, including B-2 stealth aircraft based in the United States, are on high alert and capable of striking targets in Iran if ordered.
