SAEDNEWS: Iran’s Foreign Minister: Munich Security Conference Has Turned into a “Munich Circus” on Iran
According to the political desk of Saed News Agency, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, sharply criticized the European Union’s approach and standing regarding developments related to Iran, describing the Munich Security Conference as a “Munich Circus” when it comes to discussions about Iran.
Referring to the Munich Security Conference, Araghchi said the event, once regarded as serious and reputable, has fallen into decline, with “appearance prevailing over substance.”
He continued by asserting that the European Union is experiencing confusion, arguing that the root of this situation lies in Europe’s inability to properly understand internal developments in Iran. From a strategic perspective, he emphasized, a “directionless” European Union has lost all of its geopolitical weight in the region.
Addressing Germany’s role in particular, Araghchi claimed that Germany has taken the lead in fully aligning its regional policy with Israel.
The Iranian foreign minister further stated that the practical consequence of this situation has been the paralysis and growing irrelevance of the European Union and the European troika in developments surrounding the ongoing negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program. According to him, Europe—once a principal party to the talks—now plays no effective role in the process.
In conclusion, Araghchi stressed that, by contrast, Iran’s friendly countries in the region are playing a “far more effective and useful” role than the weakened and sidelined European troika.
