SAEDNEWS: Four crew members aboard the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower were injured in an incident during aircraft recovery operations off the coast of Virginia, according to the U.S. Navy.
According to Saednews citing USA Today, four crew members aboard the U.S. Navy’s USS Eisenhower were injured during an incident that occurred while aircraft recovery operations were underway off the coast of Virginia.
The report said that two U.S. Navy pilots were forced to eject from their aircraft following the incident on the night of September 28 aboard the USS Eisenhower. Search-and-rescue teams located both pilots and safely returned them to the aircraft carrier.
Four personnel were reportedly injured in the incident, with one sailor transported to a hospital for further medical treatment.
The U.S. Navy said the incident occurred during the initial stages of assessing the situation aboard the USS Eisenhower. The aircraft carrier completed its most recent maintenance period in July.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation. The Navy has not disclosed what prompted the pilots to eject or identified the type of aircraft involved.
