SAEDNEWS: At least 18 people were injured after a fuel tank exploded at an industrial facility in the Shamsabad Industrial Estate south of Tehran on Tuesday. Officials said there was no external cause, and an investigation is underway.
According to Saednews,A fire and explosion at an industrial facility near Tehran left 18 people injured on Wednesday, according to local emergency officials.
Tehran Emergency Medical Services spokesman Tabrizi said the incident was reported at 12:56 p.m. local time. Emergency responders quickly deployed seven ambulances, an ambulance bus, and a command vehicle to the scene.
Officials said 18 people sustained injuries. Four were taken to nearby hospitals for further treatment, while the remaining victims received medical care at the site. No fatalities have been reported.
The blast wave also destroyed a nearby emergency medical station. However, all personnel assigned to the station were away on an emergency mission when the explosion occurred and were not injured.
Davoud Vali, a board member of the Shamsabad Industrial Estate, said the incident began when a fuel storage tank caught fire at one of the industrial units before exploding. The resulting explosion caused the fire to spread to other parts of the facility, increasing the scale of the blaze.
Bijan Soleimanpour, deputy governor of Tehran Province and special governor of Rey County, rejected speculation about the cause of the explosion. He said the incident was not linked to a projectile strike or any external factor.
According to Soleimanpour, the explosion originated from a tank containing industrial materials at a manufacturing unit. Authorities confirmed that no deaths have been reported and that specialists are continuing to investigate the exact cause of the explosion and assess the full extent of the damage.
