SAEDNEWS: Young Girl Ate Her Horse’s Meat So the Horse Would Become Part of Her Being
An 18-year-old Norwegian girl was threatened with death after she ate meat from her beloved horse. “Pia Olden,” a culinary intern and equestrian from the Trøndelag region in central Norway, carried out this unusual act by cooking and eating meat from her horse, which she had lost in 2018 due to illness.
The girl also did something even more unusual by taking photos of the food she had prepared and posting them on her Facebook page. In the post, she also explained how she and her family had stored the remaining meat from the deceased horse in the refrigerator.
In the caption of these images, she wrote:
“If I eat my horse’s meat, it will become a part of me.”
While the young Norwegian girl believed that this act (eating her beloved horse’s meat) and sharing the images would honor the memory of her horse, she faced a strong negative reaction from users. The threatening messages, including death threats, eventually forced her to delete the post she had published on Facebook.
Olden told Dagbladet, one of Norway’s most well-known newspapers: “Many people believe I deserve to die for eating my horse. One user also commented that I have no right to own any animals because of this act. I have a question for all those who disagreed with me and those who threatened me with death: Wasn’t eating my horse’s meat better than burying it underground to be eaten by worms?”
The girl, who apparently was not intimidated by the online threats, also emphasized in the interview that growing up on a farm gave her a real connection with animals. She added that the horse meat was the best meat she and her family had ever eaten.
