From Infection to Intestinal Adhesions; The Hidden Complications of Cesarean That You Should Take Seriously

According to SAEDNEWS, Dr. Nasrin Asadi stated regarding the benefits of natural childbirth: “Fetal lung maturity” is one of the benefits of natural delivery; meaning that when the baby is born, the chance of being admitted to the NICU decreases.

This faculty member of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences said: the length of the mother’s hospital stay is reduced with natural childbirth. Also, less antibiotics are used and anesthesia complications are lower, therefore the mother can have better breastfeeding for the baby.

This physician further explained other benefits of natural childbirth: reduction of complications in future pregnancies is another advantage of natural delivery. Also, women who give birth naturally do not experience surgical site infections from cesarean section. Surgical site infections can cause problems and in some cases may even lead to hysterectomy at a young age.

Asadi also stated other benefits of natural childbirth: there is no risk of intestinal, bladder, or placental adhesions in natural delivery; however, this risk exists in cesarean section. Placental adhesion is very dangerous. Also, natural childbirth leads to a reduction in miscarriage rates, a reduction in complications in the current and future pregnancies, and an increase in fertility rate.
