Saed News: The unveiling ceremony of the statue and commemorative stamp of Professor Maryam Mirzakhani was held at the National Library of Iran with the presence of professors from Sharif University of Technology, heads of academies, cultural officials, and the family of this Iranian genius; a ceremony to honor the first female Fields Medal winner.
According to SAEDNEWS, the unveiling ceremony of the statue and commemorative stamp of the late Maryam Mirzakhani was held on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 29, 2017, at the National Library of Iran with the presence of a group of professors, cultural and scientific officials of the country, and the family of this Iranian genius.
In this ceremony, attended by professors from Sharif University of Technology, the President of the Academy of Sciences, the President of the Persian Language and Literature Academy, and the head of the National Library and Archives of Iran, a special statue and commemorative stamp honoring this late scientist were unveiled. The attendees, while commemorating the memory and name of Maryam Mirzakhani, spoke about her lasting role in advancing science and elevating the global status of Iranian elites.
Sharif University of Technology, where Maryam Mirzakhani spent her academic years, was one of the key scientific institutions present at the ceremony. Her professors shared memories from her student years and scientific activities and paid tribute to her outstanding scientific and moral character.
The stamp and statue were designed and unveiled to honor the scientific and cultural legacy of this distinguished Iranian mathematician, whose name is recorded as the first female Fields Medal winner in the history of mathematics.
