The Blue Eye (in Croatian, modro oko) is a turquoise spring located at the border between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. On Earth, right where the Dinara mountain range ends, you suddenly encounter a wide and deep hole that resembles the human eye. The source of this eye is the Cetina River, which originates from the Dinara mountain range, and its stunning beauty comes from its turquoise, sapphire, teal, and emerald green colors. This spring flows from an underground cavity about 150 meters deep and has clear, transparent water. If you look at this beautiful spring from above, you will see a giant eye, as if its eyelid is adorned with turquoise and sapphire shades, which is why it has earned the name "Eye of the Earth."
About the Eye of the Earth
The Cetina River, from which the Eye of the Earth originates, is itself very beautiful. This river flows for 101 kilometers before finally reaching the Adriatic Sea. The source of the Cetina River is also considered a historical and archaeological site, where archaeologists have discovered the remains of Roman legionnaire weapons and medieval tools around and beneath the riverbed.
Visiting the Eye of the Earth is so fascinating that it attracts many tourists every year. Those who are braver and seeking unique experiences dive into its clear waters and swim on the surface to enjoy an extraordinary swimming experience in the middle of the Eye of the Earth.
However, exploring underwater areas in this region is not possible, and diving is prohibited. After the discovery of this beautiful and breathtaking spring, some professional divers managed to reach a depth of 115 meters into this hole, but due to the unknown depth, further exploration has not been possible. In conclusion, if you plan to travel around the world for sightseeing, we recommend that you definitely include a visit to this beautiful eye in your itinerary – we just wanted to tell you!
