SAEDNEWS: Agha Mohammad Khan Qajar was the founder of the Qajar dynasty in Iran. Born in 1742, he spent years navigating battles and unrest across the country. In 1794, he successfully moved the Iranian capital from Shiraz to Tehran and was crowned as the first Qajar king.
According to the History and Culture section of Saed News, Agha Mohammad Khan Qajar (7 Muharram 1155 – 21 Dhu al-Hijjah 1211 AH) was the Shah of Iran from 1796 to 1797. From 1779 to 1796, he focused on consolidating his power—a process that ultimately led to the establishment of the Qajar dynasty, which ruled Iran for approximately 130 years.
Agha Mohammad Khan was known for his strict and authoritative personality. One of his key initiatives was the creation of a strong central government. Through persistent effort, he brought various regions of Iran under his control. After establishing the Qajar monarchy, he worked to strengthen the army and enforce order throughout the country. He was also engaged in numerous battles and conflicts against the Russians, the Ottomans, and other domestic and foreign adversaries. Ultimately, Agha Mohammad Khan was assassinated in 1797 as part of a conspiracy carried out by one of his close associates.
