Unfortunately, all mausoleums from the Ilkhanid era—except for the Baba Rokn Ed-Din Mausoleum, the oldest structure in Takht-e Foulad—have been destroyed.

During the Safavid period, the cemetery was home to 400 mausoleums, but today only eight of them remain. The Qajar era saw significant destruction in the cemetery, yet it never lost its prominence. By the end of the Pahlavi period, Takht-e Foulad had become the most important cemetery in Isfahan.

Currently, 20 structures from the Qajar era and 17 from the Pahlavi era are preserved within the cemetery. Prior to the Safavid period, it was known as Lessan ol-Arz and Baba Rokn Ed-Din, but from the Safavid era onward, it has been called Takht-e Foulad.

In response to public interest, authorities established the Takht-e Foulad Cultural and Religious Complex in 1994 to restore, organize, and maintain this invaluable site. Since then, numerous gravestones have been repaired and rebuilt.

The best days to visit are Thursdays and Fridays, when most mausoleums are open to the public.
