SAEDNEWS: Sanandaj Museum (Salaar Saeid Mansion located in Habibi Alley on Imam Khomeini St.), which bears close resemblance to those of "Qajar" period, was originally built as the residence of "Molla Lotfollah Sheikholeslam", one of the spiritual leaders of "Qajar" era.

Sanandaj Museum: One of Iran’s Most Important Historical Treasures

After the death of Sheikholeslam, the mansion was purchased by Salar Saeid Sanandaji and was later transferred to the Ministry of Culture and Art. In 1967, it was converted into a museum. This historic residence is also known as the Salar Saeid Mansion.

One of the highlights of the museum is its magnificent Oroosie (Rosy) window work, considered one of the finest and most distinctive examples of this craft in Sanandaj. The building includes a basement and a ground floor.

The basement is dedicated to archaeological exhibits, while the ground floor showcases ethnological displays. The museum houses a diverse collection of artifacts from the Kurdestan region as well as other parts of Iran.

Except for public holidays and Mondays, the museum is open to visitors throughout the week.
