Ingredients for Baslooq Pomegranate:

  • Cornstarch: 2 tablespoons

  • Pomegranate juice: 2 cups (preferably fresh pomegranate juice)

  • Sugar: 1 cup (approximately 250 grams)

  • Rosewater: 2 tablespoons

  • Water: 1/2 cup

  • Butter: 50 grams

  • Ground pistachios or walnuts, and coconut powder (optional for decoration)

  • Dried rose petals powder (optional for flavor and decoration)

How to make Baslooq Pomegranate:

  1. First, dissolve the cornstarch in 1/2 cup of water and stir to avoid lumps. Set this mixture aside.

  2. In a pot, combine the pomegranate juice and sugar, and place it over low heat. Stir the mixture until the sugar completely dissolves and the syrup starts boiling.

  3. Once the pomegranate syrup boils, gradually add the cornstarch mixture, stirring constantly until the mixture reaches the desired consistency.

  4. After the Baslooq has thickened to your liking, add the butter and stir until it melts. Then, add the rosewater and stir.

  5. Once the mixture reaches the desired thickness, pour it into molds that you've lightly greased. You can use small molds or a single large mold.

  6. Refrigerate the Baslooq for several hours until it becomes fully cool and firm. After this time, remove them from the molds and cut them into small pieces.

  7. For decoration, you can use pistachio powder, walnut powder, or dried rose petals powder, and coconut powder.

  8. You can substitute honey or other natural sweeteners for sugar.
