SAEDNEWS: California Democrat Ro Khanna Calls for Law Banning Donald Trump, His Family, and Congress Members from Trading or Owning Cryptocurrency Following WLFI-Binance Ties and Controversial Pardon of Changpeng Zhao
According to the cryptocurrency news service of Saed News, a U.S. lawmaker has introduced a bill to prohibit Donald Trump, his family, and members of Congress from trading cryptocurrency and stocks. Ro Khanna, a Democratic representative from California, told MSNBC that the move stems from concerns over conflicts of interest and the direct involvement of the Trump family in the World Liberty Financial (WLFI) crypto project.
Khanna highlighted the controversial pardon of Changpeng Zhao, founder of Binance, calling it “a clear example of political corruption.” He added:
"How is it possible that someone accused of money laundering can be pardoned after supporting the president’s son’s crypto project?"
Zhao had previously admitted to violating U.S. anti-money-laundering laws and was fined. Khanna claims that Binance financially supported WLFI, owned by Eric Trump—a claim Eric Trump has denied, stating that his father had no involvement in the company’s activities.
The Democratic lawmaker is advocating for legislation that would ban all U.S. elected officials from owning or trading cryptocurrency, stressing that “no government official should be involved in financial interests in the crypto market.” However, reports indicate that Khanna himself is among the most active stock traders in Congress, with over $80 million in trades in 2025.
