This stunning coupe, blending classic grandeur with advanced technologies, offers a definitive answer to critics of the brand’s large, illuminated grilles while demonstrating how history and innovation can seamlessly intertwine. The exterior design of the Vision Iconic serves as a modern tribute to Mercedes-Benz’s proud heritage.
Its elongated, flowing body recalls the legendary 1938 540K Autobahn Kurier, while the rear design draws inspiration from the iconic 300SL. Yet the showstopper is the reinterpreted grille, inspired by classic models such as the W108, W111, and the 600 Pullman. Mercedes claims that in a mid-size SUV under ideal conditions, this technology could add up to 12,000 kilometers annually. The concept is also equipped with neuromorphic computing—an AI-processing architecture modeled after the human brain—enabling faster, more efficient computations. This processing power enhances traffic sign recognition, vehicle detection, and energy efficiency in autonomous driving mode.
With Level 4 autonomous driving and self-parking capabilities, the Vision Iconic allows passengers to relax during their journey. While currently a concept, its grille and other design elements are expected to influence future Mercedes-Benz models, including the upcoming electric S-Class.
