The photo below shows a significant crowd standing on both sides of the Aras River, waiting for the arrival of Nasser al-Din Shah’s caravan, which was returning from his third trip to Europe. This photo was taken by Ali Khan Vali, the governor of Maragheh during Nasser al-Din Shah’s reign. Ali Khan wrote in the caption of the photo: "A fortunate and auspicious day, the return of the blessed imperial caravan from its third journey to Europe; crossing the Aras River."
