According to the Saed News History Service, in the final days of Azar 1338 in the Iranian calendar, a royal wedding ceremony was held at Golestan Palace, officially crowning Farah Diba as the Queen of Iran. Farah Diba, an architecture graduate from Paris, first met the Shah during his visit to France, in the course of his meeting with Iranian students living in Paris, and was subsequently chosen to marry him.
This dress is one of the exquisite and significant garments in the Sa’dabad Cultural-Historical Complex collection and is on display at the Royal Dress Museum. Farah Diba married Mohammad Reza Pahlavi in Azar 1338, and the Shah provided $500,000 for wedding preparations, clothing, and other expenses, which were managed by Farah Diba and her aunt, Mrs. Ghotbi. For the dress alone, one million francs were paid to the Christian Dior House in Paris. This dress was designed by the famous Dior atelier, at a time when Yves Saint Laurent was working for the house.
