SAEDNEWS: Former Iranian President Mohammad Khatami has sharply condemned the U.S. military strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, warning that Washington’s true objective is the complete destruction of the Iranian nation—not just its defenses, but its identity, culture, and will to resist.

Khatami Breaks Silence: U.S. Strike on Iran Marks Moral Collapse and a War Against Civilization

According to Saed News, in a powerful and emotionally charged message, former President Mohammad Khatami has denounced the recent U.S. attack on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure as a “flagrant assault on Iran’s sovereignty, dignity, and civilizational heritage,” calling it part of a broader strategy to psychologically subjugate the Iranian people.

Khatami warned that the aggression extends beyond missiles and military targets. “Before seeking to dismantle our defensive, economic, and scientific foundations, the aggressors have tried to occupy our minds, to conquer our spirit,” he stated, noting that the resilience and awareness of the Iranian public have thus far thwarted these attempts.

He described the U.S. intervention as a “terrifying moral and legal collapse” on the global stage—a moment when power tramples over ethics and international law. "America’s entry into this war is not just a political act—it is a declaration of contempt for human decency and global norms," he said.

The former reformist leader paid tribute to the victims of what he termed “criminal aggression”—from slain children and civilians to scientists and military personnel who died defending the country. He emphasized that the U.S. and its allies have formed a “coalition of evil and invasion,” united against the territorial integrity, historical legacy, and independent spirit of the Iranian nation.

Khatami warned that the continuation of such warfare threatens not only Iran but also global peace and stability. “This war,” he said, “drags coexistence, security, and international harmony toward a new and dangerous abyss.”

Despite widespread domestic dissatisfaction with some internal policies, Khatami noted that Iranians from all walks of life had stood together in solidarity and sacrifice. “The people of Iran,” he stressed, “even amid criticism and difference, have shown unmatched unity in defense of their homeland.”

In a final call for strategic wisdom, he urged Iranian leaders to pursue all military and diplomatic responses with prudence—not vengeance. “We must assert our right to defend ourselves,” he said, “but we must also strive to end this war swiftly and wisely, restoring life, hope, and joy to the Iranian people.”

Khatami’s statement stands as one of the most resonant domestic condemnations of U.S. action to date, casting Washington not merely as a geopolitical actor, but as a destructive force intent on erasing a civilization.
