SAEDNEWS: Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that despite mutual interest in future dialogue, President Vladimir Putin currently has no plans to speak with Donald Trump following the U.S. airstrikes on Iran—an action Moscow says has seriously damaged already strained U.S.–Russia relations.
According to Saed News, As global condemnation mounts over the U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, Moscow has drawn a firm diplomatic line: no talks with Washington—at least for now.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed Sunday that President Vladimir Putin has shelved any plans for dialogue with his American counterpart Donald Trump, citing the “destabilizing and reckless” nature of the strikes that targeted facilities under international nuclear safeguards.
“Both presidents understand the importance of dialogue and, to my knowledge, are still open to meeting in the future,” Peskov stated. “But following the U.S. assault on Iranian nuclear infrastructure, there are no immediate plans for a conversation between President Putin and Mr. Trump.”
The Kremlin’s message signals a significant freeze in what were already frosty U.S.–Russia relations, now further strained by the unilateral military escalation in the Middle East. The strikes, ordered by Trump and carried out jointly with Israeli forces, have triggered widespread backlash across Eurasia.
Peskov emphasized that the path to restoring constructive bilateral relations will be long and uncertain.
“Serious damage has been done to Russian–American relations. These shifts do not happen overnight—and nor can they be undone overnight.”
Analysts in Moscow describe the Kremlin’s stance as a signal of strategic disapproval—not only over the breach of international law, but also over what Russia sees as Washington’s continued use of force as a diplomatic tool. While both Trump and Putin have historically maintained backchannel interest in personal diplomacy, current events appear to have extinguished any near-term possibilities.
With Beijing condemning the strikes and Tehran vowing retaliation, Russia’s public distancing from Washington is another indicator that U.S. aggression in Iran could isolate it further on the global stage—raising the stakes in an already volatile standoff.
