In a detailed analysis, The Guardian warned that US involvement in the conflict risks unpredictable consequences and regional destabilization. It questioned the effectiveness of American munitions against Iran’s fortified underground nuclear facility at Fordow, deeply embedded beneath nearly 90 meters of rock.

Highlighting expert opinion, The Guardian cited Toby Dodge, professor of international relations at the London School of Economics, who emphasized that Iran’s regime is far more resilient than widely assumed. “The Iranians have been developing advanced technologies for years — capabilities that cannot simply be eradicated by a single bomb,” Dodge noted.

The report further stressed the inherent challenges in neutralizing Fordow, warning that any strike might not guarantee success but would almost certainly escalate tensions and provoke retaliatory attacks on US military bases in the region.

Reflecting on the lessons from protracted conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, The Guardian observed that even overwhelming military presence does not necessarily yield strategic breakthroughs.

The article also highlighted critical operational challenges faced by Israel, including a shortage of interceptors to counter Iranian missile attacks, limited air assets, and mounting fatigue among its forces.
