Barzani: We Support the PKK's Decision to Disband and Lay Down Arms

According to Saed News, quoting ISNA, Nechirvan Idris Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, wrote in a statement:
“We support the PKK’s decision to disband and lay down arms, as well as the welcoming of Mr. Öcalan’s call. We consider this an impactful step and believe it will open a new chapter in the region.”

He added:
“This development is a sign of political maturity and paves the way for genuine dialogue, which will lead to peaceful coexistence and enhanced stability in Turkey and across the region.”

Further in the statement, the President of the Kurdistan Region said:
“This is a critical moment, and all eyes are on how this important step will be positively and constructively responded to by all groups, political factions, and relevant institutions. This development provides the right and proper groundwork and can bring about lasting and inclusive reconciliation, putting an end to decades of violence, suffering, and misery, and guiding the region toward a brighter future and real progress.”

In the final part of the statement, it reads:
“While appreciating President Erdoğan’s role and his efforts in supporting this process, we reaffirm that the Kurdistan Region, as always, supports all efforts aimed at resolving tensions and existing issues through reconciliation. We hope this promising beginning leads to meaningful change, and we declare our full readiness to provide any form of assistance and cooperation to ensure the success of this historic opportunity.”
