SAEDNEWS: President Masoud Pezeshkian, in a letter to the United Nations marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, reaffirmed Iran’s unwavering support for Palestinian aspirations and condemned Israeli crimes.
In his message, Pezeshkian condemned Israeli occupation and aggression, highlighted the failures of international organizations to protect Palestinians, and called on the global community to uphold the rights and self-determination of the Palestinian people.
The full text of the letter reads:
In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
November 29 marks the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People—a day symbolizing the world’s support for the courage, resilience, and pursuit of justice of a people who, for decades, have stood firm with empty hands.
On behalf of the nation and government of Iran, I wish to express the Islamic Republic’s unequivocal support for the Palestinian people in their ongoing pursuit of their legitimate aspirations, Pezeshkian wrote.
This day recalls eight decades of occupation of Palestinian lands by the Israeli regime, the enduring suffering of the Palestinian people, and the persistence of oppression and injustice inflicted upon this nation.
This year, we observe this day amid circumstances in which the atrocities committed by the Israeli regime against Palestinians and Gaza residents have unfolded before the world’s eyes, while governments that claim to defend human rights have willfully ignored these crimes.
November 29 is a day of solidarity with a nation whose right to self-determination and the establishment of the State of Palestine continues to be denied, compelling it to persist in its legitimate struggle for this noble and human objective.
The day serves as a reminder of the moral and legal duty of governments and peoples worldwide to support and defend the rights of the Palestinian people. It also highlights the inability of international organizations to confront the Israeli regime, which remains the gravest threat to peace and security in the international community.
Now is the time for states and governments, in line with the will of global public opinion, to take serious and effective measures to halt the aggressions committed against the Palestinian people.
Emphasizing its continued comprehensive support for the Palestinian cause and paying tribute to the steadfastness and legitimate resistance of Palestinian youth against occupation and aggression, Iran calls on the international community to confront the actions of the Israeli regime, which clearly violate international law and numerous international resolutions.
Iran maintains that the only principled solution to the question of Palestine lies in ending the organized occupation of the historic homeland of the Palestinian nation, ensuring the return of Palestinian refugees, and enabling them to exercise their right to self-determination.
To this end, Iran’s initiative—centered on the return of refugees and a referendum among all indigenous people of Palestine, including Muslims, Christians, and Jews, in accordance with democratic principles and international law—has been formally registered with the United Nations and presents a viable alternative to previously failed proposals.
This initiative seeks to resolve the “Question of Palestine” legally, based on the exercise of self-determination and the right of return of all Palestinian refugees to their ancestral homeland.
In declaring full solidarity with the Palestinian people, I once again salute the courageous resistance and heroic defense of Palestine’s noble and free-spirited people and youth in the face of the Zionist regime’s aggressions, and I pray to the Almighty for their victory and the liberation of Palestine, Pezeshkian concluded.
May the peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
