Iran and Venezuela Review Ties Amid Global Developments

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi held a phone call with his Venezuelan counterpart, Yván Eduardo Gil Pinto, on Tuesday night to discuss bilateral relations and recent developments in the Caribbean region.

During the conversation, the two sides reviewed cooperation between the countries across economic, trade, and technological sectors. Both emphasized the importance of expanding collaboration at bilateral and multilateral levels, including through South-South initiatives.

They also exchanged perspectives on the latest developments in the Caribbean and Latin America, while discussing broader international issues.

Condemning the United States’ coercive approach toward Venezuela and other independent developing nations in the Western Hemisphere, Araghchi described the threat of military action as a blatant violation of the United Nations Charter and international law. He further stressed the international community’s collective responsibility to uphold UN principles and counter unilateral aggression.

Araghchi also raised concerns about the Zionist regime’s activities in the Caribbean and Latin America, calling them a serious threat to regional peace and stability, and urged governments to hold the regime accountable for crimes including genocide.

The Venezuelan Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for Iran’s principled stance, underscoring the importance of strengthening Tehran-Caracas strategic relations and highlighting Venezuela’s resilience against unlawful US pressures and interventions.
