SAEDNEWS: Iran’s parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, stressed that Iran and China’s destinies are historically and geopolitically intertwined. He urged practical implementation of agreements, highlighted the Belt and Road Initiative as the framework, and backed President Pezeshkian’s efforts at the SCO summit to boost cooperation.
According to Saed News, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, the Speaker of the Parliament, said in his pre-agenda speech: “The development and security of Iran and China are historically and geopolitically intertwined, and Tehran and Beijing are well aware that a shared global destiny will form the foundation of the new international order.”
Qalibaf, stating that the Islamic Consultative Assembly firmly believes that Iran-China cooperation at all agreed levels must move from words to action, emphasized: “Parliament considers the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit a historic opportunity to confront unilateralism and to strengthen operational cooperation in security, economic, and infrastructural areas. Removing bureaucratic and legal obstacles to the implementation of the comprehensive strategic agreement and joint projects has been placed as its main priority. The Belt and Road Initiative is the driving framework of this cooperation.”
He reminded: “We fully support the tireless efforts of President Dr. Pezeshkian at this summit to enhance interactions in various sectors between the two countries and with other member and observer states. We believe Iran and China, as two key members of the SCO, can play a decisive role in regional peace and stability.”
