SAEDNEWS: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian highlighted the global significance of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, representing 2.5 billion people and over 40% of the world economy. He emphasized the summit as a platform to strengthen multilateral cooperation, regional peace, and international dialogue.
According to Saed News, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian spoke at Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport on Sunday, September 9, before departing to China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
He stated that SCO member countries represent nearly 2.5 billion people worldwide and encompass more than 40% of the global economy.
The president added that this summit is undoubtedly an effort to strengthen cooperation in line with multilateralism and to counter unilateralism and authoritarianism promoted by the US and certain European countries. He emphasized that the summit provides an opportunity to enhance relations with member states and other countries.
Pezeshkian also noted that main and observer members will attend the summit, with discussions involving presidents and prime ministers aimed at reinforcing cooperation.
He highlighted that these discussions are an important opportunity to bring perspectives closer in scientific, cultural, economic, political, and security areas to mutually assist one another.
The president stressed that the SCO summit will elevate cooperation across various sectors among member and observer countries. He mentioned planned meetings and talks with the Chinese president and officials from other participating countries.
Pezeshkian concluded by expressing hope that these discussions and meetings will contribute effectively to peace, security, and development in the region and globally, ensuring the well-being of people everywhere.
