Iran: Australia’s Move Risks Longstanding Ties, Distracts from Gaza Genocide

According to Saeed News, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, expressing regret over the Australian government’s request for the ambassador and several Iranian diplomats to leave the country, described this decision as unjustifiable and contrary to the tradition of diplomatic relations between the two states.

The Foreign Ministry completely rejected the allegation against Iran regarding the promotion of antisemitism, drawing the Australian government’s attention to the documented historical reality that antisemitism is essentially a Western-European phenomenon that has appeared in various forms at different times. Nevertheless, in recent years, this concept has been misused to suppress any form of protest against occupation, apartheid, and genocide against Palestinians.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, while condemning the heinous crimes and ongoing genocide in Gaza, reminded all supporters and justifiers of these crimes of their responsibility, and assessed the Australian government’s act of accusing Iran and targeting the longstanding diplomatic relations between the two countries as part of Israel’s policy to divert public opinion from the genocide in occupied Palestine and to increase tensions in the region.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, while reserving its right to reciprocal action, called on the Australian side to reconsider this misguided decision and held the Australian government responsible for the consequences of this action, including problems that will arise for the educated Iranian community residing in that country.
